I just read a thread on AGW suggesting that out of respect for combat vets. They should get a discount   from WB. I think pyro has enough respect for vets to offer one in AH.

A very nice gesture it would be, I'm sure.
<Gets into devil's advocate mode, and dons flame-retardant suit>.  However, one doesn't have to put cash in someone's hand (or the equivalent) in order to show appreciation.  Whats more, IMO, the idea of cash equivalent "thank you's" *can* send the wrong message to the more impressionable among us - and that there is already far too much reliance on that sort of thing in today's society.

Go to a con and see how the players treat the guest speakers.....read the boards and see the respect that is afforded the vets....heck, the mere existence of the sim and affiliated community probably raise awareness of veterans issues to a certain extent...

Hey, I'm a vetran, I have been shot at, I like Easymo's Idea.  Discount me baby.  Whoo Hooo.

I was in for Grenada, Panama, The Gulf War, and Provide Hope, Provide Comfort, and another on (Mogodishu, and support for the Kurds in Iraq and Turkey, there were three, one for Mogodishu/Somalia and the other two for the kurds.) Of course I wasn't in theater for anything past panama, I did do direct support activities!

(Was shot at in the Phillipines.)

Oke-doke, what about veterans from the side of KAOS? How come the discussion is for ex-Control operatives only to get the perks? KAOS operatives got shot at, maimed and injured too, ... and we believed in our cause just as much as the imperialist, capitalist, scum sucking, gutter-trash Control agents did!

I say ex-Kaos veterans should get perked as well ... mutter...mein-mutter-schnitzel...humph.

yup, desert shield, desert storm, northern watch, southern watch, and other little things thta Ive been deployed for. A simple thank you would be nice, however I dont expect it. I didn't sign up for a thank you. I signed up to protect the people of this country (USA) and the freedom that is so precious. I imagine that other countries vets feel the same way

on a side note.... send all contributions to:

Neg, no discount when it comes to earning a living,we don't have much kick against the ordinary working joe,why get credit for games simply by being dumb enough to go get shot at?
(note: pzvg has been that dumb,so keep the flame general, don't get personal)
